SBL Partners to Host Honor Flights

October 28, 2024 10:53 a.m.

Sarah Bush Lincoln, the Coles County Council on Aging, the Effingham City/County Committee on Aging (ECCCOA) and Senior Services of Effingham are partnering with the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight to host a Flightless Honor Flight in Effingham and Mattoon on November 6.

The event has been specifically developed for veterans who anticipate that they may not be physically able to withstand the rigors of an actual Honor Flight to Washington DC. The times for each event are as follows:

Lifespan Center, Mattoon

8:30 am – Doors Open

9:00 am – Event Begins

10:30-11:00 am – Reception/Parade

Effingham Event Center

12:30 pm – Doors Open

1:00 pm – Event Begins

2:00 to 2:30 pm– Reception/Parade

Veterans eligible for the honor flights served in World War II (enlisted by 12/31/1946), the Korean War Era (enlisted 01/01/47-12/31/1957), or during the Vietnam War Era (enlisted 01/01/1958-05/07/1975).

Reservations are required for both events, and seats are limited. Call the Coles County Council on Aging at 217-639-5150, and call the Senior Services of Effingham at 217-347-5569.
