Internist Richard Snowden, MD, recently joined the Occupational Medicine team at Sarah Bush Lincoln as the new Medical Review Officer and collaborating physician.
Dr. Snowden has 30 years of experience in internal medicine and most recently worked as a hospitalist at Sarah Bush Lincoln before coming to Occupational Medicine. He replaces Thomas Sutter, DO, who retired in December.
Dr. Snowden has previously served as the Medical Review Officer for SBL Occupational Medicine and has recently undergone training and review to step back into this role. “I look forward to working with local businesses to help keep their employees healthy and if they are injured, help to ensure their speedy recovery,” he said.
As a specialist in the field of occupational medicine, Dr. Snowden works with employers, employees and other healthcare professionals to address job health and safety issues, and to prevent workplace injury and illness. If an injury or illness occurs, he provides prompt diagnosis and an effective treatment strategy - with the goal of getting the individual back to life's activities and work with maximum function as quickly as possible.
Dr. Snowden earned his medical degree in 1980 from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed a three-year residency in internal medicine through the same university in 1983. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
