After 21 years of service to the community, Family Practice Physician Gary Mikel, MD, is retiring from his practice at Sarah Bush Lincoln Family Medical Center in Mattoon.
A reception is being held in Dr. Mikel’s honor from 2 to 6 pm Wednesday, December 13, at his office at Family Medical Center, 200 Richmond Ave. East, Suite 1. The public is invited to enjoy light refreshments and wish him farewell. He will continue to provide care until December 29.
Sarah Bush Lincoln is pleased to announce that Family Physician Doug Kabbes, MD, is currently working alongside Dr. Mikel with plans to take over his practice at the end of the year. Dr. Kabbes has more than 20 years of vast experience, most recently as chairperson of St. Anthony’s Emergency Department, Effingham. Dr. Kabbes was born and raised in Effingham. He earned his medical degree at SIU School of Medicine in 1985 and completed a residency in family medicine in Decatur. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
