During Sarah Bush Lincoln’s annual Bravo! Dedication Banquet Thursday evening, Clinic Team Leader Treva Grimes received the prestigious Bravo! President’s Award.
Psychiatrist John Lauer, MD, nominated Grimes for the award describing her as "the heart and soul of outpatient Psychiatry & Counseling Clinic.”
Dr. Lauer explained that a patient called one-half hour prior to his appointment to cancel because he had no transportation. Grimes realized the patient needed to see the doctor, and without hesitation, she went and brought the patient to the clinic so he could keep his appointment.
In another instance, a patient needed to be seen on an emergent basis. Because of the intensity of the situation it was thought best he be seen in the Emergency Department (ED). When the patient refused to go to the ED, Grimes made arrangements for him to be seen by the doctor in a secure room in the ED. She made arrangements with security, ED, and pharmacy so all the patient’s needs could be met when he came in. Grimes was at the hospital through the early evening to make sure the visit went without incident and the patient received the care he needed.
“Treva Grimes provides this kind of service day in and day out without the need or want of any type of recognition,” Dr. Lauer added.
Other employees who were nominated for the annual award were Tammy Carpenter, Richard Edwards and Kristy Burson.
