Sarah Bush Lincoln & YMCA Form Access Agreement

August 28, 2017 11:40 a.m.

Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Center for Healthy Living (CFHL) and the Mattoon Area Family YMCA have formed an access agreement that allows YMCA members to use either facility for exercise.

The Center for Healthy Living is a full-service fitness center with free weights, treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bicycles, resistance training machines, exercise classes, an indoor walking and running track, and a professional staff of personal trainers and exercise specialists. The fitness center also features full locker rooms.

In order to use the Center for Healthy Living, individuals will join the YMCA located at 221 N. 16th Street in Mattoon, and select which facility they wish to use. Members may choose to use both facilities for an additional charge. In addition, current YMCA members can choose to use the Center for Healthy Living as well.

Through a fall YMCA membership drive set for Sept. 5 through Sept. 30, the activation fee for new members is waived. The fee varies depending on an individual’s membership. Center for Healthy Living members must be at least 18 years old.

An open house will be held from 10 am to 1 pm, Saturday, Sept.16, in which those interested may tour the Center for Healthy Living and talk with the staff members. The YMCA will also be hosting an open house from 3 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, Sept. 17, as part of its membership drive. The YMCA open house will feature 20-minute sampler fitness classes for members and non-members to experience. Participants must be at least 8 years old and the classes will be geared to all fitness levels from low intensity to high intensity.

YMCA Executive Director Blake Fairchild said, “We’re excited to partner with Sarah Bush Lincoln and give our members another fitness center alternative. Because of its location on the east side of the Sarah Bush Lincoln campus, residents to the east may find the facility addresses their needs.”

Center for Healthy Living Fitness Center Manager Lindsey Williamson added, “We will continue to provide medically monitored exercise to community members who are referred to the center by their medical providers. The reciprocal agreement with the YMCA allows them to remain in a facility after they complete the program, and opens the doors to others who are looking for a fitness center.”
