Lincolnland Hospice Gears Memorial Service for Kids

May 27, 2014 10:51 a.m.

Sarah Bush Lincoln Lincolnland Hospice is hosting its 15th annual Memory Day, a program geared toward children who have experienced the death of a loved one. Memory Day is set for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 7, outside Entrance A of Sarah Bush Lincoln. Participants should meet in Entrance A Lobby.

Memory Day will focus on cherished memories children have of special people or pets they have lost in their lives, as well as pay tribute to them. As part of the event, children will plant flowers in a garden near the Main Entrance of the Health Center. The group will also release a dove. Light refreshments will be served.

Dawn Macke, Memory Day coordinator said, “This special day is for all children who have lost someone close to them, not only for those who’s loved one used Lincolnland Hospice services. Oftentimes we overlook a child’s need to grieve and to remember someone special to them.”

For more information, please call Dawn Macke at 1-800-454-4055. There is no charge to participate in Memory Day; however, an adult is requested to stay with the child during the program.
