Cooking Classes Offered to Teens This Summer

June 5, 2014 9:38 a.m.

Is your teen looking for something fun to do this summer while school is out? Encourage him or her to develop cooking skills with the Make 10: Teen Cooking Classes.

Teens who just completed grades seventh through 12th are invited to join the Make 10: Teen Cooking Classes sponsored by Sarah Bush Lincoln Healthy Communities. Over the course of six classes, teens will develop their cooking skills while learning to cook 10 delicious, healthy meals that can easily be made at home.

Classes are 11 am to 1 pm, each Wednesday and Thursday, beginning Wednesday, June 11, through Wednesday, June 25. Students are encouraged to bring a guest to the final class from 11 am to 2 pm, Thursday, June 26, to taste test their final meal.

The Make 10 classes will be held at Mattoon Middle School in the Family and Consumer Sciences kitchen. There is a $15 fee for the class, however scholarships are available to those students on the free - or reduced - lunch program.

For more information or to register please contact Sarah Bush Lincoln Healthy Communities at (217) 345-6827.
